“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” — Carl Rogers
Coaching · Meditation Guidance · Parts-Work
One-to-one sessions with Jonny Hill, available online worldwide. Drawing on Appreciative Coaching, IFS-informed parts-work, and meditation guidance — working with what you bring, at whatever depth the moment calls for.
Free · 15 minutes
A relaxed conversation to see if we’re a good fit. No commitment required.
The approach
Each of these three frameworks does something the others can’t. The coaching builds direction and resource — somewhere solid to move from. The parts-work goes beneath where thinking alone can reach, finding the patterns that don’t shift through insight alone. And a developing meditation practice transforms something deeper than the patterns — grounding you in the awareness they arise from. Together, they tend to produce the kind of change that actually holds.
Where it fits, we begin from what’s already working. Rather than cataloguing what’s wrong, Appreciative Coaching helps locate your genuine strengths and build toward a desired future from a grounded, resourced place. Change tends to come more easily when you start from capacity.
Most stuck patterns are run by parts of us that developed for good reasons — protection, survival, coping. Drawing on Internal Family Systems principles, we approach these parts with curiosity rather than judgement, and work to understand what they’re protecting and what they need.
This isn’t mindfulness as stress management. A committed sitting practice builds neuroplasticity and meta-awareness — the capacity to observe your own experience without being swept into it. That quality of attention is what allows parts-work to reach places that insight and conversation alone cannot. For those drawn to meditation as a path in its own right, Jonny also offers structured one-to-one TMI guidance independent of coaching.

Sessions
While I build my one-to-one experience, all sessions are offered on a koha (gifting) basis. This is an opportunity to do genuine work together at no fixed cost. Get in touch and we'll take it from there.
Koha: A Māori concept of gifting — give what you can, what feels right, or nothing at all. The work is what matters.
“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world.
Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.”

Who I am
For a long time I was convinced everyone else had found something I hadn’t. Some direction, some sense of knowing what life was actually for. On the outside I was holding down a well-paid job. On the inside, barely holding together — addicted, anxious, quietly depressed. Underneath all of it was a deeper knowing, a kind of yearning, that there had to be more than this. More than the 9-to-5. More than just getting through the week.
Meditation was the first thing that pointed somewhere worth going. I taught myself and practiced seriously for years. But there was a whole layer I couldn’t reach — a numbness, a tension held so deep I wasn’t even aware of it. What other approaches gave me — working somatically, with parts — wasn’t a change in the meditation. It was the ability to feel again. And once that came back, what had once felt like white water — all current and noise, barely keeping your head above — started to open into something else. Something more like a dance of sensation.
I held back from offering this work for a long time. It didn’t feel right until I’d walked far enough to know where the path goes — and far enough to know it keeps going. What I want for people who come here is the kind of freedom that was always just there, waiting — the kind that was always closer than it seemed.

A note on scope
These services are coaching, not therapy or clinical treatment. They are non-diagnostic and do not replace licensed psychiatric care. Jonny is currently enrolled in a counselling postgraduate programme and is in the process of establishing formal clinical supervision — client work will be discussed with a supervisor in a confidential context as this is put in place. If clinical material arises that falls outside the scope of coaching, a referral will be recommended. Operated within HPCA Act 2003 boundaries.
